LAWS THAT NEED TO BE MADE NOW

LAWS THAT NEED TO BE MADE NOW!

I am 64 years old. I am disabled from an automobile accident (when a MACK truck rear-ended my stopped mid-sized car) while driving at a speed of approximately 30 miles per hour and totaled it.

The greatest gift of that accident is that I am alive, can still walk and talk and have been able to live independently at least for the past 18 years through 5 spine surgeries and 4 additional surgeries.

However, it is not what this blog is about.

LAW #1 THAT IS NEEDED: I had written this on the first night of starting the blog... being used to loosing things all computer oriented, I will come back to this. I have a more urgent concern for my SOAP-BOX BLOG. READ BELOW>>>

LAWS TO BE CONSIDERED:
LAW #1 - TOP PRIORITY FOR CONSIDERATION:

AS A MATTER OF REPARATION FOR ALL AFRICAN-AMERICAN CITIZENS BORN HERE WITH A ANCESTRY OF MORE THAN THREE GENERATIONS, WE WILL INSTITUTE A PROGRAM OF DNA TESTING OF A MINIMUM SPECIFIED NUMBER OF TRIBES IN AFRICA
TO BE KEPT IN A RECORD BANK AND FUNDED BY THE GOVERNMENT. A CORRESPONDING NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION WOULD BE ESTABLISHED TO MONITOR BOTH THE TESTING AND THE SPENDING OF THE FUNDS OF THE PROGRAM.

Any African-American citizen who wishes to avail themselves of this process could then have their own DNA test done at that non-profit organization. The individual DNA could be compared to the data bank of Tribal DNA.

The benefit of this process would be that any individual who "matched" a Tribal DNA, could then identify a culture, a history and even belief that identified what their ancestors had participated in. It could give them a greater sense of self, and a place of belonging.

In short, "we" could participate in giving back something "we" took away. With the reality of recognition that "we" continue to take away from any non-Caucasian, unconditional acceptance that we easily give to our Caucasian (SELVES) citizens.

*Note: Author's self-described Ancestry: German,English, Scottish, Danish and possible Cherokee (either Heinz 57 or American)
I had the great good fortune of meeting my own Great Grandfather on my Mother's side, and both my Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother on my Father's side. When I want to think of my ancestors, I can easily understand some of my own personality traits - my tenacity might come from my German Great Grandmother and my sense of fairness from my Danish Great Grandfather, both of whom immigrated to American at the age of 17 in the late 1800's.

I know my ambition is reflective of my Great Grandfather who's land acquisition was just one of his methods of accumulation for his family. His brothers also were like-minded, all somewhat driven by their goals. Another trait that goes both up and down the ladder of heredity.

LAWS THAT NEED TO "BE" MADE OR CHANGED

I am a proponent for change. At least to have change in the world of regulations that were set up for circumstances that no longer exist. Or to have change in situations that now exist that have not existed in the past.

There is no doubt that we are in a changing world.

LAW #1

The first law that will need to be changed is to make a new law.

Any American Citizen who serves his/her country in the capacity in service while our country is either at war directly or indirectly or assisting/protecting or providing service to another country should have the full military benefits as are given to any military branch of service.

Specifically, as the full military benefits as are given to the Army of the United States of America,so should be given to the National Guard members. This would include out of country pay, spousal and family pay, educational pursuit pay, full medical benefits both during service at war and after.

All training, personal counseling and advance psychological testing and post psychological counseling should be provided and established well in advance of any possible need when we are sending our men and women to war on our behalf or the behalf of our country's policy.

The next concern with this law would be for the provision of funding and I believe I have that solution addressed as follows with LAW #2: SEE NEXT

LAW #2

The cost for these benefits would come from the reduction of "perks" that Congress has given themselves over the years. I think a committee of "concerned citizens" could review their necessary entitlements both of serving and retired elected officials. Since we have computers, email and open conferencing there should be no problem of access to information - business are doing this easily. I see no reason that we should have to wait for weeks or months for information.

It is time our government meets the business world!

I am sure that I have not covered this thoroughly, but I would immediately request assistance in drafting this law for bill presentation to Congress both House and Senate, to both retroactively and immediately cover the National Guard for their dedicated service on our behalf in Iraq.

It is imperative that change also comes to the legislation in our government. And it is that government that needs to be looking at itself. Not by party persuasion either... Lets look at the benefits that Congress has not only accepted for itself in the past, but continues to vote increasingly even as our citizens benefits shrink ever lower.

"FREE" haircuts, lunches, parking, autos, drivers, mailing, travel, etc. are not a guaranteed part of the elected position. It was voted it by the Congressmen (and now the Congresswomen) AFTER they were elected.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could vote in our own benefits?

I believe that it is time to take a tally. Time to calculate the actual figures of each elected official - one by one - first of what they have voted to benefit for themself, then for their district. Second - the actual numbers that have been paid out for their use during their term in office.

Oh - wait... we have a problem here. We have a number of departing Senators and Congressmen presently.

"Why?" Do you ask?

Well, if they did not leave this year, the money that has accumulated in an account from leftover campaigns, or unused contributions (I will willingly be corrected on the specifics of this) will be returned either to the contributors, or at least become unaccessible to the elected official anymore. If they leave now, they may take all of the money with them.

Of course, they will also take with them, retirement of their annual salary every year (yes, that is from now on - and also for their spouse, should they expire. It was theirs if they managed to last one year in office), plus many of the "perks" that they were entitled to while in office. Fortunately for us they can't keep voting on all the home district pork barrel projects.

Oh - wait - I forgot again. They generally keep a finger in the pie by becoming lobbyists, (22,000 Lobbyists database listed & 2080 Google hits) earning tidy sums influencing anyone they can, especially the less experienced newcomers. Those pork barrel projects can just keep on running - at least for a while.

Now - I have written many words. I know that statistics won't get accomplished what I want to do. However, I do need a list of laws - old laws that need to change, new ones that need to be written - in order to put a priority on a campaign to make that change happen.

It is only then that a campaign can be started - and that campaign has to be believed in by a great many people in order to be successful. If it were to be successful within - say - TWO YEARS - that would be a mighty awesome thing! Especially considering that we will be electing a new president during that time.

LAW #3

A complete review of laws Insurance Companies have with regard to how settlement cases are handled with regard to accident victims. A review would be undertaken by a committee of 10,
